Don Bosco took yet another step in its quest to repeat as the NJSIAA/N.J. Devils Non-Public champions. And it didn’t take long for the Ironmen to set the tone.

Second-seeded Don Bosco, No. 3 in the NJ.com Top 20, scored tow early goals and kept the momentum rolling en route to an 8-3 victory over 10th-seeded and No. 13 Pingry Monday night.

Don Bosco will now face sixth-seeded and No. 8 Seton Hall Prep, fresh off a 3-2 upset over third-seeded and No. 2 Bergen Catholic, in the Non-Public semifinal round at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Mennen Arena.

Michael Rubin struck first on a power play opportunity less than two minutes into the game followed by Arthur Tsimerman, who found the back of the net a minute and a half later.

Pingry responded with an own goal on the power play, credited to Jared Kordonsky, but Don Bosco would retaliate with two more scores before the end of the frame.

Don Bosco put any doubt to rest, outscoring Pingry 3-0 in the second period. Overall Ryan Fine led the way with two goals while Rubin, Tsimerman, Jake Geraci, Hunter McGee, Will Fortescue and Robby Greenleaf all found the back of the net once. Lukas Klemm and Sal Guzzo tallied three assists apiece in the win.

Kordonsky scored twice for Pingry with Jack Myers collecting a goal as well.
