Jahquil Batts threw for three touchdowns and ran for another as Don Bosco Prep, No. 7 in the NJ.com Top 20, defeated West Orange, 50-18, at Granatell Stadium in Ramsey.

The victory is the first at Don Bosco coach Dan Sabella, who won state titles at Paramus Catholic and Bogota.

Batts opened the scoring with a 1-yard keeper just 3:56 into the game, then found Kyle Monangai for a 10-yard TD pass late in the first quarter. Don Bosco Prep (1-2) started to pull away in the second quarter when Batts connected with Jalen Berger for a 36-yard TD pass to make it 22-8. Then after a bad snap on a West Orange punt, Monangai scored on a 4-yard run to make it a three-possession game.

Berger added a 1-yard TD run in the third quarter, Batts then found Robert DeLuccia for a 15-yard TD pass before Arsheen Jiles capped off the scoring with a 46-yard punt return TD.

Mason Murdock hit Jayson Raines for a 52-yard TD pass for West Orange (2-1), cutting the deficit to 14-8 in the first quarter. Jehki Williams added a 10-yard rushing score in defeat.
