DON BOSCO PREP EARN STATE SKI TITLES AT NJISRA CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Don Bosco Prep ski team won the overall boys team title for the fourth year in a row and Ridgewood earned the girls title when the the New Jersey Interscholastic Ski Racing Association championships concluded with the Race of Champions on March 1 at Mountain Creek Ski Resort in Vernon. Don Bosco finished first in the slalom and second in the giant slalom to extend its title streak. Morristown-Beard finished second overall and Ridge was third after taking second in the slalom, as all three teams overtook top-seeded Vernon, which entered the meet undefeated. Ridgewood claimed first place overall for girls after winning both the slalom and giant slalom races. Blair's second-place finishes in the giant slalom and slalom helped it take second overall, while Sparta's third-place finish in the slalom sparked the team to third overall. Kyle Hayes of Vernon won both the boys slalom and giant slalom races at the Race of Champions to be crowned individual state champion. Alex D'Alessandro of Morristown-Beard placed second overall, while there was a tie for third place between Brendan Muhs of Sparta and Brennan Chuang of Wayne Valley with identical combined times of 1:17.06. Kaitlin Devir of Ridgewood had first-place finishes in the giant slalom and slalom races to earn girls individual honors at the Race of Champions.
