Third-seeded and No. 5 in the NJ.com Top 20, Seton Hall Prep battled with seventh-seeded Don Bosco Prep through two regulation periods and two extra-time periods to a 0-0 draw in the semifinals of the North Jersey, Non-Public A tournament at Brendan P. Tevlin Memorial Field in West Orange. A clutch save by goalkeeper Tomas Hut gave Seton Hall Prep a 5-3 win in the penalty shootout to advance to the sectional finals.

Seton Hall Prep will meet top-seeded and No. 1 Delbarton in the championship match at Millburn at 3 p.m. on Thursday. Thursday will be a rematch of last year's sectional final, where Delbarton came out on top 4-0.

Hut didn't get any action in regulation, as Liam Bertand started in net for the Pirates. Seton Hall coach Mary Berman decided to call on Hut for the shootout, and the goalkeeper gave his teammates the best start they could ask for by saving the first kick he saw.

"At the end of regulation Coach (Marty) Berman told me that if we got to penalty kicks that I was going in," Hut said. "I was a little nervous that the penalty kick portion started but I had confidence because we always practice penalty kicks."

Brian Zimmermann, Joe Kearns, Skyler Storms, and Rafael de la Torre delivered on their penalty kicks, and Bobby Smallman closed the show by burying the fifth and final kick.

"I was a little nervous taking the last shot," said Smallman. "But when I saw Tomas save their first shot, I knew we would make all the shots."

Bertand stopped six shots to keep Don Bosco Prep scoreless. The game marks the 14th-time this season the Pirates have kept a team scoreless.

"It was a great save by Tomas on their first kick," said Berman. "I told Bertrand after the overtime periods that Tomas was going in for the penalty kicks and he said, "whatever it takes." This shows what a three year starter and a great team leader Liam is. Our team motto is on this team to check your egos at the door."

The result moves Seton Hall Prep's undefeated streak to nine, and puts its season record at 18-2-4.

Don Bosco Prep ends its season with a 12-6-1 record.
